About the farm: We have a 30-acre farm with hayland, pasture, perennial berry/nut orchard, and former vegetable production, as well as a lovely house and outbuildings. We are looking to sell the property as soon as possible, ideally to a farmer or farmers who want to steward the land in a responsible way. For vegetable farmers, there is also the option to purchase several pieces of equipment, including a heated 16’x32′ greenhouse, unheated 30’x72′ hoophouse, walk-in cooler, walk-behind tractor with implements,, vegetable production tools & supplies, as well as a 4-wheel Ford 4000 tractor with bucket loader, post-digging auger, brush mower, and forklift attachments. This may change as we are attempting to sell these items separately. The farm is just 3 miles from Fort Atkinson and Jefferson. Jefferson County is known for its agricultural heritage, riverways, bike trails and parklands. We are a short stroll from a 500 acre conservation area with forest and prairie trails, lake, sandhill cranes, and many other migratory bird species. 35 mins from Madison, 1 hour from Milwaukee, 2 hrs from Chicago.
Only the vegetable production land has been actively certified organic. The remaining acres are 100% certifiable. No inputs in the past 3 years other than some manure (also used on the vegetable land, so that’s already been taken care of).
