We are looking to start a greenhouse using Controlled Environment Agriculture to grow fresh organic produce, as well as a possible homestead for chickens, bees, and/or fish. We are looking for sponsors, partners, and investors. We are in the process of obtaining loans, grants, crowdfunding, and investors for the land. We are also working on certifications for Certified Food Protection Manager, Food Service Sanitation Manager, Food Safety Sanitation Management, and we are pursuing an advanced degree in Controlled Environment Agriculture.
Due to the recent epidemic (COVID-19), we are preparing a business proposal and plan, in an attempt to fast-track the implementation of this new food hub, in which we would like to see a CSA (community supported agriculture) project evolve from, here in Central IL. We can start with just 1 – 2 acres of land and expand from there. We have collected several closed auction and farm sales and are looking at current sales. We look to purchase timberland as it is natural, untouched farmland, and is much cheaper than regular, cultivated land. We are located in central IL, close to the Illinois River in Peoria, IL, which connects to the Mississippi River. We are centrally located near a major US railroad and Highway, both leading to the Illinois River, as well as several major interstates connecting to Chicago and St. Louis, MO, making it an ideal trade/market route location for this operation.
