I’m looking for farmland in the Midwest, ideally 2-10 acres, but will consider other size parcels. I’ll consider land in any Midwest state, but Eastern Iowa is preferred, though not necessary. If there’s no residence on site, I need to be able to build a small house or cabin.
I grew up in rural Iowa and have lived in the Cedar Rapids-Marion-Iowa City area for over 25 yrs. I want to start a small farm, where I can also live. I’m saddened by the loss of so many small, family farms. And the small towns they supported and who supported them.
I’m open to land purchases where there’s an ongoing farming operation that isn’t quite ready to wind up. So if you’re looking to sell, but still need the land for a couple more years or already have it rented out, that’s not a problem. I’m also willing to work with other individuals looking for small farms. A cooperative arrangement, land share, etc. are possible.
