Job/volunteer description: Green Earth Harvest, a program of The Conservation Foundation, is an organic vegetable farm located in suburban Naperville. We proudly supply over 500 families with organic vegetables through a 28 week farm share as our primary business model. Green Earth Harvest is committed to training the next generation of farmers and leaders in sustainable agriculture. The best way to really learn how to farm is by working at a farm. Our apprenticeship is designed to give candidates a hands-on experience working in all facets of farming, whether it’s weeding a bed of carrots, driving a tractor, watering a greenhouse, or managing a harvest. Farming requires lots of different skills and know-how that would be impossible to learn from books and workshops alone. Our apprenticeship provides a full-season opportunity on a working farm to explore the possibilities of a career in farming.
