I lived and worked on a micro goat dairy in rural eastern Virginia for four years where we raised goats and chickens, made cheese, grew vegetables, and did a lot of homesteading activities including food preservation, soap making and herbal teas. We sold our goods at the farmers market. Since then I have worked on mutual aid projects involving food sovereignty supporting vulnerable communities.
Looking for land: United States
Enterprises being considered:
We are in times of great uncertainty and many of the country’s most vulnerable communities are suffering from extreme climate events, food insecurity and poverty. I am looking for land to grow food for those who do not have access to healthy, fresh foods. This vision includes creating a hub where people from all walks of life are welcomed to participate in the growing and harvesting of foods and medicines, where we come together to teach and share skills and empower the people to take back their collective power and become their own producers. I see this as a mutual aid project, where the food produced is shared amongst the local communities, those on the frontlines, street medics, herbalists, other mutual aid groups, etc. We will grow vegetables, grains, herbs (for medicine), raise chickens, ducks, goats and sheep.
Total acres desired: 1-5
Organic? Doesn’t matter
