Chocolate Maple Energy Bites

This month's Kids Kits is Chocolate Maple Energy Bites. It’s a new twist on our previous PB Energy Bites recipe by Compassionate Crumbs! Using local rolled oats, this recipe is allergen-free. Try it as a summer snack or quick breakfast on the go!

Equipment

  • 1 Large Bowl
  • 1 Spoon for stirring
  • 1 Refrigerator or freezer

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup uncooked oats
  • 1/4 cup sunflower seed butter
  • 2.5 tbsp maple syrup
  • 1/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips can substitute chocolate chips for raisins
  • 1/2 tsp chia seeds

Instructions

  • Add all ingredients to a large bowl except the chocolate chips.
  • Mix well with a large spoon then fold in chocolate chips.
  • Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before rolling into balls – this makes them easier to roll. TIP: Do smaller bite-size balls for younger kids, or smash flat.
  • Store in refrigerator or you can freeze if you make a large batch and thaw before eating.
